Accessibility validation is part of Gutenburg’s release process. Generated PDFs are checked with five independent third-party accessibility checking tools with each release.

Gutenburg release testing

The product documentation supplied for this site identifies Adobe tooling and octopdf.com as examples within the five-tool validation set. Using multiple checkers helps identify technical issues that may be surfaced differently by different validation tools.

Customer validation

Organizations can continue using their own accessibility testing tools, assistive-technology testing, and internal review procedures on documents generated by Gutenburg. Product-level validation and organization-specific document QA serve different purposes.

What still benefits from human review

  • Whether alternative text communicates the intended meaning
  • Whether color and contrast choices are appropriate
  • Whether document content and wording are understandable
  • Whether the completed document works for the organization’s specific users and workflow

VPAT

A Gutenburg VPAT is available upon request for teams conducting a formal accessibility evaluation.
